Today marks 8 years since the deadliest tsunami in recorded history

That’s right, it’s been eight years since the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake and the resultant Indian Ocean tsunami, which occurred on Boxing Day, 2004. Indonesia still feels the effects. So take a minute today to remember that day, whether it’s through quiet reflection, reading the articles scientists have written on the events of that day, or checking out the charities that are still rebuilding the region. If anyone has any research/outreach ideas or a few thousand dollars laying around, Sumatra’s Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center needs help.
